Mmm...tacos.
I first went to El Taco Loco for a friend’s birthday last year, and liked it so much that I went there for my own birthday this year! I go probably once every couple of months, with friends who live in Hong Kong or ones who are visiting, and we always have a good time there. An added bonus: it’s very easy to find, which helps a lot when I’m playing tour guide. I’ll admit that the service can be interpreted as rude, but I’ve found that if you beat the staff to the chase and offer them a smile first, that they are usually quite nice afterwards. They might still be brusque, but I never find them to be rude or condescending.
In terms of their menu, I’ve always quite enjoyed what I get, and they do offer a good variety to choose from. I also like that the portions aren’t so big as to make you feel gluttonous afterwards, but still fill you up nicely. Oh, and I’m particularly fond of their Hawaiian Margaritas!
There are only two bad things that I have to say about El Taco Loco. Firstly, it is that their toilets are tiny, and I inadvertently find myself in an impromptu yoga class when I need to use the ladies’! Secondly, it is that they don’t have as many seats as I wish they had. I usually have to wait a little while before my friends and I are seated, or we get ushered into Archie B’s, which is the restaurant next door where El Taco Loco customers can also be served. Other than that, it’s definitely a fun and affordable place to spend some time with friends. In fact, writing this is making me want to go again!

I have to agree with everyone on the service,
the staff did an excellent job of making us feel very unwelcome.
also we ordered three DIFFERENT dishes..that turned out tasting EXACTLY the same.
fairly good food, fairly awful service
I actually think the food here is pretty decent. But as has been mentioned repeatedly, the service is atrocious. Not all the staff members are bad, but the ones that are bad are absolutely terrible. They run the gamut from indifferent to bitchy.
I feel guilty about patronizing this place, but it's one of the better fast foods in HK, and I still occasionally will drop in for a takeout order if I'm in a hurry. I wish they'd get their act together so I could eat there on a clear conscience.
I'd give it a skip
Tried this place with my friends, and I wish I didn't. If you want something that even comes close to resembling mexican food, i'd bypass El Taco Loco and take the two minute trek to iCaramba on Elgin.

I order food to take away because i don't like the music and more often than not i feel like an unwelcome pest while waiting for my food. The Staff almost huff as they walk past me. On a coupe of occasions I've waited outside, only to be met with a equally dissatisfied staff having to journey out of their restaurant. great.
I appreciate that they have little space, but i concur with nict, a smile, no matter how false, really does go a long way.
Absolutely abysmal service...
I get it - it's fast, and fairly affordable (if bland) food given the location. But whatever happened to service with a smile?
It's worth a try
Went to El Taco Loco a few days ago, and I tried out their 7-Layer Nachos. They are definitely not kidding with their 7-layers because there are so many ingredients in that dish - It has plenty of Tortilla Chips, Beans, Guacamole, Salsa and Sour Cream, Meat, and very important: Melted Cheese! It was very satisfying and delicious...and it was so much that I couldn't even finish it with my friends!
Additionally, their Sangria is worth a try, too!
I think they're reasonably priced and will definitely go there again when I'm around that area!
Very Tasty Tacos
Tried this one last week, very tasty tacos there. Prices are ok, not too cheap but within a reasonable range. Im not into spicy food so i didnt try any of the chili dishes, but the tacos are good.
