disappointing
Yumla really seems to have fallen from grace, much to my dismay.
Granted, it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but once upon a time it was a little known haven of awesomeness and merriment with a decidedly friendly buzz.
Now its a sweaty, tired little affair with 'indie' dweebs heaving out into the courtyard, consistently mediocre melodies and the ambiance of a loud, dark abattoir.
I don't get it!
I don't really get the big deal with this place. It's fun the first few times you go but recently I've just been finding it a bit of a sweat box!!
A good night
Whenever I go to Yumla I always have a great time! It does get a little crowded, but you can always find some space near the DJ corner and dance the night away.
Hip
I could do without the godawful music (Hi Brian!), and the smoking - but I love the ambiance and decor here - and michelle the bar manager is so lovely and accomodating!
A real club
A truly awesome venue!
The staff are great, the music is probably the best in HK, the vibe is good and the outdoor area allows for plenty of relaxed drinking space.
So stay away from all the pseudo-upper class "clubs" in HK and go to Yumla for a drink, a dance and if you get lucky perhaps a little romance.
Say hi to Nava on the way in, he's a great guy.

If you haven't been to Yamla, I can say you haven't been to Hong Kong at all!
This is like the most popular place for EVERYONE here, no matter you are local, occasional or tourist.
It is busy.
It is loud.
It is Live!
Enjoy your drink and remember to talk to the funny doorman!
