The Globe - A local gem.
I was recently invited to join a group of friends for a beer at the Globe. I had never heard of The Globe before that, and obviously therefor never been. My first impressions were positive: a cozy, friendly pub. I got the feeling that the Globe had a strong loyal customer base because everyone there seemed to know everyone else, including the staff. The vibe however was inviting and I soon ordered the first round of drinks - this is point where I feel in love with this pub. I was amazed to find such a huge selection and variety of beers and ales. I have to date not found another venue in Hong Kong stocking such variety of drinks that can match that of The Globe. Beers and Ales offered are generally fairly identical from bar to bar in Hong Kong but The Globe offered so much more choice. I skimmed through the drinks menu to find a selection of Belgian, Czech, German, English, Irish, Scottish, Australian, American, Chinese, African and New Zealand beers and ales. The Globe truly lives up to its name - it offers something from any major beer and ale brewing country from around the world. There is also a selection of wines and ciders there for those of you that prefer it, but you would be missing the heart and soul of this pub if you were to opt out!
As my night progressed, I found myself holding a new pint of beer or ale. I was keen to take advantage of the variety on offer, at least I made that my excuse! The Globe also has a kitchen for those wanting to feast on any of the delicious pub style food available - a personal favorite being their home made pie of the week, I thoroughly recommend it! A couple tv screens were also dotted around the pub which helped make sure I was not missing out on any of the sport from around the world. The service at The Globe was professional and efficient, leaving little room for disappointment. The globe, in a nutshell, is a fantastic place to go if your wanting a more social night with your mates, business colleagues or loved ones while sipping on any one of the world beers on offer at The Globe.
Great Beer Selection!
Best thing about this pub - SMOKE FREE! Like all the rest of the bloody bars in Hong Kong should be. Anyway, has a great beer selection - seriously good if you like British Ales - Belhaven, Sharp's and Thomas Hardy which has a whopping 12% ABV! It's not the biggest place but you get a good crowd of folk in here on the weekends. Beer lovers paradise.
