TAKU, meaning 'home' in Japanese is a small, yet cozy boutique Japanese eatery, reminiscent of a traditional shop-house found in the small alley-ways and older neighborhoods of Osaka and Kyoto. Located in the heart of Hong Kong’s SoHo district, TAKU first opened its doors in June 2009. Enjoy the freshest Sashimi and Sushi, Yakimono and Tempura, and be sure to try the home-made tofu.

If you love Japanese food like I do, then Taku might be a place to give a try. Although I usually go during lunch (beat the rush of lunch hour in Central!), most of what I've eaten has been fresh and classic, exactly what Japanese food should be. Start with a pickled octopus salad and get a set lunch deal. I love the eel with rice. Nice and soft but warm and flavourful. Exactly how eel should be! Don't forget to ask for the stamp card as well. Every time you have the set lunch there, you can get a stamp. Collect 10 stamps to get something on the house! (And don't forget to check-in and show them your check-in on foursquare for a free piece of sushi!)
