Secret Spots
Club 71

Club 71 Exterior - SoHoClub 71 stands out figuratively, because its location quite literally doesn't. After walking down the neon emblazoned streets of SoHo, the path to Club 71 provided me with more than a little rabbit-hole mystery. Once found, my reward was a comfortable, stress-dissolving environment, a quirky, eclectic ambiance and bar staff that, when required, offer gentle insight into those more adventurous drinks that I'd otherwise be too scared to request.

Club 71 Interior - SoHoWalking in through the quaint outdoor seating area into the bar like a wide-eyed child, I was met by a friendly member of staff who quickly suggested a cozy little alcove to melt into. A brief glance at the surroundings, followed by perusal of the very reasonably priced drinks list and my mind was made up. This was a bar in which I could confidently expect and enjoy a Gin Fizz. Appearing swiftly, after a little banter with the knowledgeable barmaid about its sugar content, I sat back and enjoyed a well prepared, handsomely measured beverage.

Between sips I became very aware that Club 71 is something of a 'niche' bar. Not the sort that garners an 'Indie' vibe simply to draw in trendy drinkers striving to feel edgy this bar appears happy enough gliding under the radar of the majority. Often, such bars can feel strangely cliquey, with regulars rooted firmly in their seat, eyeing newcomers with disapproving glares. This was not the case here; in fact I felt an immediate and noticeable intimacy with Club 71. Observing a truly diverse assortment of languages and age groups, it would Club 71 Bar - SoHobe hard for anyone to feel out of place in such company. The decor is sporadic; dancing between gaudy features and blase afterthoughts it's a mish-mash of 'this and that'. Albeit an odd one, this is certainly a mish-mash that works.

In a city whose night scene is saturated with bars boasting curious cocktails and sumptuous, mood-lit interiors, 71 was and continues to be a sharp breath of fresh air. A very worthy watering hole for anyone willing to step just a little way off the beaten track.

Best Bar in Hong Kong.

Which is why none of you should ever come here. Seriously. Forget it even exists. Everything you have read here is a total lie. Oh god I can't do it..I love 71. It's a haven of laid back awesomeness untouched by the regular douchey SoHo crowd. Tsing Tao on tap and a resident black rabbit. What else do you need?

Cool Story

This is an interesting place. Also near a place called Song Restaurant. I also noticed a cool design studio around there called Fluid. Hidden area worth checking out.
