For the first time in Hong Kong, London-based, vintage furniture dealer, Circa, will present a week long pop-up shop at The Space. Circa HK will feature a salon style selection of stunning vintage furniture and home accessories from the 1950s to 1970s.
Circa was established as a partnership between David Flatt and Ian Mcternan. As the owner of Renaissance Battersea (which deals in antique fireplaces, lighting and reclaimed flooring) Flatt spent much of his time travelling around Europe sourcing stock. He became increasingly interested in the design flair of the 50s to the 70s, a period which designer Mcternan shared the same passion for.
Flatt comments “Italian lighting was where it started for me, 1970s Murano, with really vibrant colours and imaginative design. I particularly like Sciolari at the moment from the ‘50s to the ‘70s, his work in my opinion is both beautiful and affordable. And Both Ian and I love the Atomic age of the 1950s and early ‘60s which was very reminiscent of what was going on in the world back then.”
The pair now source Circa’s items from all over the United States, France, Italy, Austria and Germany and will often search out a particular pieces for clients (collectors include Sir Bob Geldoff), whether its Club Chairs from East Germany or a Lucite coffee table from Italy.
Circa HK will feature vintage design pieces by Willy Rizzo, Romeo Rega, Maison Charles, Studio Jansen, Mahey and many more. Prices will range from HKD3000 up to HKD60,000.
